In this tour from Puerto Natales, you can meet the second largest penguin in the world, the King Penguin, this species is a migratory bird that moves in search of food, and some years ago decided to settle definitively in Bahía Useless in Tierra del Fuego. King Penguin Reserve tickets 2026-2027

The Reserve entrance fee is not included in the tour: you buy your ticket at the park ticket office on arrival and, from the 2026-2027 season, you can pay in cash, by debit card or by credit card.

The Reserve is closed every Monday throughout the season, and also on December 25, 2026, January 1, 2027 and May 1, 2027. The visit inside the park is guided, lasts about 1 hour and is always accompanied by a park ranger, in groups of up to 15 people. With gusts over 90 km/h the Reserve may close without notice.

The October 7, 2026 opening date is an estimate: the Reserve confirms it on September 28, 2026.

The tour depends on the calendar of the King Penguin Reserve, which opens from October to May and is closed every Monday. In what transport do we cross the Strait of Magellan?

We cross to Strait of Magellan, through Punta Delgada (the crossing lasts approximately 30 minutes in ferry), located 170 km south of Puerto Natales

Are there places to eat during the tour?

Depending on where the crossing is made, we can make a stop in Cerro Sombrero for lunch, generally the costs vary between CLP$10,000 and CLP$20,000, and there are also meals of the day, which include a starter, lunch, dessert and a drink.

It is also recommended that you bring food for the trip, since depending on the season, the restaurant may be closed.

Can I cancel or reschedule my reservation once I have made the payment?

Yes, you can cancel or reschedule your reservation if you notify us 72 hours before the start of the tour, in this case we will refund 100% of the cost you paid when making the reservation or we will reschedule without penalty.

Itinerary King Penguin park from Puerto Natales

We start our tour at 06:00 am where the passengers are picked up in their respective accommodations in Puerto Natales, and then we will go to Primera Angostura, where we will arrive at approximately 10:30 am, the crossing lasts 20 minutes through the Strait of Magellan.
Once we cross the Strait of Magellan, we will head towards our first stop, where we will have lunch a typical Patagonian dish (lamb) that includes a soup, a main dish and a dessert, in this place we will be approximately one hour and you can enjoy the greatness of the Magellanic pampas.
Approximately at 1 pm we will arrive at the king penguin park, where we will meet after a brief talk that the ranger will give us, we will walk through the marked trails to see the second largest penguin in the world, the king penguin.
In this place we will be approximately 1 hour, where you can take pictures and videos, foxes, armadillos and different types of birds that accompany us on the road
Once the walk through the park of the penguin king is finished, we will go to Puerto Natales, leaving the passengers in their respective places of accommodation at approximately 10:00 p.m.
