Itinerary: Sailing the Ultima Esperanza Fjord

07:00 hrs. Check-in at our office at Eberhard 560 (Puerto Natales local time). Please bring your identity document, ID card or passport, then board the bus to Puerto Bories.

07:30 hrs. Optional meeting point at Puerto Bories, for passengers arriving in their own vehicle.

08:00 hrs. We sail from Puerto Bories towards Bernardo O’Higgins National Park through the Señoret Channel, with a snack on board (coffee or tea and a cereal bar). During the crossing we can see Mount Balmaceda, where the glaciers we are going to visit are located, and the Bories Cold Storage Plant National Historic Monument, founded in 1913 by the Sociedad Explotadora de Tierra del Fuego, which for more than 60 years was the most important slaughterhouse in the area. Another landmark is Estancia La Península, which can only be reached by sea.

09:30 hrs. Along the way we pass the waterfalls and the cliffs where condors nest, heading towards Mount Balmaceda, 2,035 metres high.

10:00 hrs. Visit to the Balmaceda glaciers, with views of mountains, waterfalls, sheep ranches and Patagonian birds.

10:20 hrs. Arrival at Bernardo O’Higgins National Park.

10:30 hrs. Guided walk through a lush forest of coigües and ñirres to the foot of the Serrano Glacier, along the shore of the Témpanos lagoon. Here we enjoy the contrast between the sky and the sea ice, with the imposing glacier in front of us.

12:00 hrs. We head back from the Serrano Glacier towards Estancia Perales, passing a family of sea lions on the way and enjoying a well-earned aperitif with glacier ice on board (whisky or orange juice).

13:00 hrs. Lunch at Estancia Perales: a Patagonian lunch, or a vegetarian alternative if you prefer (see the FAQ).

16:30 hrs. Arrival in Puerto Natales, end of our services.

  • Times are approximate and subject to change according to weather conditions.
  • The winter navigation starts at 08:00 hrs.
  • Itinerary valid from 1 September 2026 to 31 March 2027.
